If water is leaking, try this first

If water is actively leaking, try to shut off the water only if you can do it safely. Look for the shut-off valve near the fixture or the main water shut-off for the home.

  • Do not touch standing water near outlets, cords, electrical panels, or appliances.
  • Keep children and pets away from wet areas.
  • Do not force a shut-off valve that feels stuck.
  • If the area feels unsafe, stay away and call for help.
